I don’t usually eat salami, the salt and fat are big no no’s. However, when I tasted my friend, Elana’s baked salami, I knew that I was in big trouble. It is so delicious, that I promptly convinced myself that it was pure protein and proceeded to indulge in several bites…and I mean SEVERAL. The entire 2 pound delicacy was demolished by our friends within 10 minutes of its serving. It is so easy to prepare and so popular to serve, that Yale requested that I make it for him to take to his AEPi Frat House, for he and his friends to enjoy during the Super Bowl. I do like to spoil my boy.
Ingredients
- 2 lb Salami whole
- 1 jar Heinz Chili Sauce
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 3/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Score the salami (big x's across the whole thing-don't worry about going too deep).
Mix everything else together
Slowly pour over the salami
Cook at 350 degrees for about 2 hours (you can decide how carmelized/crispy you like it).
Baste often.
