Geometry in Motion

The whole is more than the sum of its parts. In the case of this outfit, that rings true. This racerback dress, by Parker, with its shorter front and longer back, gives it just the right amount of “wow” to pique my interest. Worn on its own with these funky wedges, which are incredibly comfortable because of their low pitch, it is casual and youthful. I admit, however, that it is a tad short since it rides up when you walk—shhh don’t tell my daughter or the FabuLesley police!

For a complete change, I add a jacket, pumps, and a crocodile clutch. Voila, the outfit becomes urbane and elegant. To say that I am a fan of Helmut Lang and its signature linear design, is an understatement. I must own at least four HL jackets. Beautifully crafted, their angularity and clean lines always add an element of sophistication and style to an otherwise ordinary outfit.  This white jacket, which is my go-to for this season, is both chic and easy. It transforms a sexy body hugging dress into the perfect outfit for an evening outing at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
