Drama Queen
/ To say that I am a drama queen is a bit over the top. My disposition is not all that dramatic, but my flair and fearlessness when it comes to making a fashion statement certainly is. If I told you that I am actually quite shy, you would probably not believe me. Yet, in a room full of strangers, I am often quite uncomfortable and very self conscious. However, put me on a stage, in a room full of strangers, and the discomfort disappears, for on stage, I am truly at home. This is likely why I find myself “going for it” when it comes to fashion, making bold choices and never doubting myself.
When I attended the Fierce Con weekend a few weeks ago, I knew that I would be surrounded by women my age, mostly fashion bloggers, with similar values and goals, but also diverse tastes in fashion. This is the outfit that I wore to the opening night celebration. Since I was performing a song that evening, I wanted to “dress the part.” I chose this very rock and roll top by Yigal Azrouel, a designer that I have worn in the past. It is quite low cut, and I will admit that I had second thoughts, but since it didn’t reveal anything inappropriate, I went for it.
I cannot say enough good things about these leather pants by Theory. In addition to being super comfy, and flattering, the color is a definite knock out. Burgundy is a color towards which I tend to gravitate at this time of year, both in my fashion and makeup choices.
The gold heels seemed a better choice than basic and often boring black, and they gleam next to the burgundy. As we approach the holidays, this outfit will definitely be on repeat.
