Blue Belle

Here is the tale of how a potential fashion disaster became a fashion success. I found this beautiful Sandro dress at Bloomingdales. I loved the lace brocade and the sheer back panel, all of which I found to be very francaise. The only problem was the plunging neckline and unpadded front cups. In days of yore, I might have been able to get away with this free and breezy cut, but at the age of 57, it was definitely not a green lit fashion situation. Not one to surrender without a fight, I had an idea. If I asked the tailor to sew padding into the cups and close up the front to reveal only a slight amount of cleavage, perhaps I could then solve the revealing problem. As you can see from the finished product, the task was accomplished successfully! Below is a selfie I took in the tailor's dressing room. The look on my face depicts my reaction to the revealing nature of the dress.

See how reducing the plunging neckline and adding the padding transformed the look.
