I am certainly not letting my orthopedic surgical shoe get in the way of my style; in fact it has inspired it. Because of the enormous amount of gauze that has been meticulously wrapped around my foot wound, by Dr. Suzuki, I have had to wear pants with a wide opening at the bottom. Goodbye to skinny jeans and hello to cropped flares. Luckily and unsurprisingly, I have a few pairs from which to choose. These lace bottom cropped flare jeans by J Brand, were purchased last summer at Yellow Dog LA and are still available (click on the link above). I got these low heeled mesh booties this past summer at Bloomies in NYC and are low enough so that I am not too unbalanced and can feel stylish. But the real star of this post is the silk neck tie, which I received as a birthday gift. As most of you know, I love scarves. I wear them all year round no matter the temperature. A voice teacher of mine told me I should always protect my throat and keep it warm. That advice stuck, and I have been wearing scarves ever since. This, however is my first “neck tie,” and although there would be a tendency to style it with a more upscale outfit, I chose to do the opposite and style it with a hoodie and jeans. It instantly elevates the look, and takes on star quality. Adding these blue oversized frames and keeping the earrings subtle and classic ties the whole look together. You could say, that the scarf hoodwinked the hoodie, (add the wink icon here!).
